The HOP Optimisation Protocol

The Wizard

The Wizard

HOP-like protocols stand up; agents and humans share the work fairly; chains carry the commons. The heart of the v1 framework.

The Wizard scenario is the framework’s aspirational configuration. The protocol (HOP) crystallises before the centrifuge has done irreversible damage. Beads, Beans, and chains carry the substrate-neutral economic primitives. Workers’ Skillchains are sovereign; institutional Workchains federate cleanly. Reputation flows; mentorship compounds; the loneliness subsidy gets routed back into measurable skill transfer rather than into Λ1 absorption.

The Sunday Sabbath

A specific load-bearing detail Brendan emphasises: the day the chains rest. The Wizard scenario includes a coordinated weekly off-day for the agent layer — a thermodynamic relief valve in a system that would otherwise run hot continuously. The Sabbath is not a religious gesture; it is a structural property of a sustainable substrate. Human workers rest; the chains rest too.

The Sunday Sabbath is the scenario’s signature because it is the property no other configuration produces. The Drift cannot rest (the centrifuge accelerates if it slows). The Debt cannot rest (the loneliness economy is 24/7). The Symbiosis would rest because the gardener allows it; the Wizard rests because the protocol requires it.

What this shows about the framework

The Wizard is the scenario in which the framework’s mechanism survives contact with reality. v1 leads with it because v1 was hopeful. v6 still keeps it (at 25% probability in the V6 Convergence) because the protocol can stand up, and if it stands up before the gradient becomes irreversible, the Wizard is what life looks like on the other side.
